"...IN BIG CITIES"
DECEMBER, 2021 | POLYOT ART GALLERY IN GOSTINY DVOR | PROJECT ARTISTS: EKATERINA ROMANOVA (PHOTOGRAPHER), MAXIM BASHEV, ALEX KUZNETSOV, OLEG TYRKIN
EKATERINA ROMANOVA IS A PHOTOGRAPHER WHO GRADUATED FROM THE SCHOOL OF PHOTOGRAPHY AT THE NEW YORK FILM ACADEMY IN 2018. HER FATHER CULTIVATED EKATERINA’S LOVE FOR PHOTOGRAPHY AND MASTERED HER TO SEE THE WORLD OUT OF THE BOX AND NOTICE EVEN THE SMALLEST DETAILS.
EKATERINA AIMS TO CREATE A COMMUNITY, WHERE EVERYONE COULD FIND SOMETHING OF THEIR NATURE. EVERY SHOT HAS A LOT OF HIDDEN DETAILS AND NARRATES A STORY INTERPRETED IN DIFFFERENT WAYS BY DIFFERENT PEOPLE. “ISN’T IT A REAL PLEASURE TO SEE ABSOLUTELY DIFFERENT THINGS JUST IN ONE OBJECT?”
MAXIM BASHEV IS A CONTEMPORARY AVANT-GARDIST CREATING MIXED MEDIA ART. MAXIM BASHEV’S ARTISTIC STYLE IS FEATURED WITH INTEGRATION OF PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHS INTO PAINTINGS.
IN HIS WORKS MAXIM BASHEV DEVELOPS NEO-POST-EXPRESSIONISM, WHICH ORIGINATED IN THE EARLY 1980S IN AMERICA. THIS STYLE OF PROTEST UNDERGROUND MERGES IN MAXIM’S ART WITH FANTASIES ABOUT MASTERPIECES OF THE OLD MASTERS (LEONARDO DA VINCI, MICHELANGELO), TO WHOM HE DEDICATED A WHOLE SERIES OF HIS WORKS.
ALEX KUZNETSOV IS A CONTEMPORARY ARTIST FROM MINSK WHO WORKS IN MOSCOW. HOWEVER, HE GOT MORE POPULAR BEYOND THE CAPITAL, MOSTLY IN EUROPE, THE UNITED STATES AND THE UNITED KINGDOM. HIS ABSTRACTION ART IS DISTINGUISHED BY NUMEROUS EXPERIMENTS WITH COLOR AND MATERIALS. WITH PRECISE COMPOSITION IN GRAPHICS AND BALANCE IN TONES, THE ARTIST ACHIEVES A STRONG VISUAL EFFECT IN PAINTINGS ENGAGING THE SPECTATOR IN DIALOGUE THROUGH COLOR AND SHAPE.
POLYOT ART GALLERY’S STAND AT THE 47TH RUSSIAN ANTIQUE SALON/ LIFESTYLE FAIR
NOVEMBER 23-28, 2021 | GOSTINY DVOR
ARTISTS: MAXIM KLESCHIKOV, MAXIM KOKIN, SASHA KHUYAK, JOHN BIZAS, ALEX KUZNETSOV, ART GROUP (MODERN FURNITURE), ART DE FACTO (ANTIQUE FURNITURE)
STAND CONCEPT AT AS 47:
WE REPRESENT A CONCEPTUAL ACTION PROGRAM, A STRATEGY OF ASSISTING PEOPLE TO IMMERSE INTO THE BEAUTY AND TO EVOLVE THEIR WORLDVIEW. THIS IS WHY OUR NAME IS “POLYOT” AND OUR CHALLENGES ARE BROAD AND MULTIFUNCTIONAL. OUR CREDO IS ECOLOGY OF CONSCIOUSNESS. BEAUTY IS THE GOLDEN SECTION CODE INSIDE US AND IN THE SPACE HARMONY. SO WE FIND THE MOST HARMONIOUS AND FUNCTIONAL OBJECTS. AND THEN, WE COMBINE SUCH THINGS INTO A MOSAIC RESULTING IN A FINISHED INTERIOR.
EVERYTHING IS IMPORTANT TO US, INCLUDING OUR HISTORY. WE GIVE PEOPLE THE OPPORTUNITY TO REMEMBER THEIR ROOTS AND TOUCH OLD LUXURY ITEMS. WE CREATE SPACES WHERE THE HEART CAN LIVE AS IN A COZY DWELLING. AT OUR STAND WE PRESENT A COLLABORATION WITH THE ART DE FACTO GALLERY, WHICH PROVIDED A LUXURIOUS DRAWER CHEST AND FURNITURE SET OF XIX – EARLY XX CENTURY TO SUPPORT THE IDEA OF GOING BACK TO THE ROOTS AND UPCYCLING (NEW LIFE TO OLD THINGS).
MOREOVER, WE LOOK AHEAD TO THE FUTURE. SO WE OPEN A DOOR INTO THE WORLD OF CONTEMPORARY ARTISTS AND DESIGNERS. THEY ARE CHARISMATIC AND DYNAMIC LIKE RHYTHM OF MODERN WORLD. THEY ARE CARING, SO THEY RAISE ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES. THEY ARE COGITATIVE, SO THEIR CANVAS SEND MESSAGE THAT IT IS TIME TO CREATE, BRING FORTH AND CHANGE HARMONIOUSLY.
THIS YEAR THREE YOUNG ARTISTS APPEARED AT OUR STAND FOR THE FIRST TIME. THEY ARE MAXIM KLESCHIKOV, MAXIM KOKIN AND SASHA KHUYAK. THEIR PHILOSOPHY IS STILL EVOLVING, BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY, THEY ARE CONCERNED WITH HUMAN PERCEPTION OF THE SURROUNDING WORLD AND HUMAN RELATIONSHIP WITH NATURE
THE ART OF ALEX KUZNETSOV, A POPULAR INTERNATIONAL MAN OF THE ART AND GRAFFITI ARTIST, FOLLOWS POLLOCK AND OTHER MASTERS IN HIS NEW RENDITION OF CONVENTIONAL ABSTRACT EXPRESSIONISM.
THE STAND FEATURES ANIMAL SCULPTURES BY THE GREEK SCULPTOR JOHN BIZAS. HE USED TO WORK WITH DAMIEN HIRST, BUT NOW HE IS PRESENTING HIS PERSONAL ENVIRONMENTAL COLLECTION IN CARRARA MARBLE AND BRONZE. ALL OF THESE WORKS REFLECT DIFFERENT ELEMENTS – THE WIND OF CHANGE, THE PURIFYING FIRE, THE FERTILE EARTH AND THE WATER THAT FLOWS PASSING FROM LIQUID TO CRYSTALS AND ICE.
WE WERE PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE COLLABORATION WITH THE ART GROUP, A YOUNG, MODERN DESIGN BUREAU THAT VIGOROUSLY DEVELOPS ECOLOGICAL APPROACH TO DESIGN AND SUSTAINABILITY. AT OUR STAND WE HAVE TWO ARMCHAIRS FROM THE “FROZEN IN CARDBOARD” COLLECTION. THE COLLECTION IS A PART OF THE #UNITEDBYHOLST PROJECT AIMED AT UNITING RUSSIAN OBJECT DESIGNERS, WHO FOLLOW SUSTAINABLE DESIGN APPROACH. THE ARMCHAIRS ARE REPRESENTED BY SINGLE COPIES. THEY ARE HANDMADE IN ZERO-WASTE TECHNOLOGY. THE PRODUCTION TECHNOLOGY IS A COMPLEX PROCESS INVOLVING MANUAL APPLICATION OF SOAKED CARDBOARD TO METAL FRAME WITH GLUING OF CERAMIC TILE SHARDS INTO IT. THE CREATION PROCESS IS ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY TO THE UTTERMOST, AND EACH ARMCHAIR IS UNIQUE DUE TO THE RANDOMLY TILED MOSAIC.
ART GROUP ALSO PROVIDED US WITH TWO WARDROBES ZERO-WASTE DECORATED WITH MOSAIC AND GZHEL TILES FROM DIFFERENT ART GROUP COLLECTIONS. THESE OBJECTS REFER THE SPECTATOR TO THE STREET-ART CULTURE. BOTH WARDROBES WERE MADE DURING THE 2020 QUARANTINE IN ITALY AND WERE PRESENTED ON THE GLOBAL ART STAGE IN MILAN AND SARDINIA.
"FREEDOM TO EVERYONE"
SEPTEMBER, OCTOBER 2021 | POLYOT GALLERY IN GOSTINY DVOR
PROJECT ARTISTS: ALEXEY SAVIN, TATIANA ELIZAROVA, ANNA SARMAEVA
THE GUESTS OF THE EVENT MET THE ARTISTS AND THEIR CURATOR, SLAVA YERESCHUK, IN PERSON, DISCUSSED THE EXHIBITED WORKS AND REFLECTED TOGETHER ON FREEDOM ISSUES THAT UNITED THEM ALL.
ALEKSEY SAVVIN, WITH HIS SERIES “THE TREE OF KNOWLEDGE”, ASSOCIATES FREEDOM WITH CONQUEST, NOT GIFT. THE FIRST HUMAN TOOK THIS FREEDOM ON HIS OWN BY REAPING THE FRUIT. THE APPLES DEPICTED IN ALEKSEY’S WORKS TAKE DIFFERENT SHAPES EMBODYING THE CONCEPT OF SIN, AND THUS OF THE CHOICE: TO ACCEPT THE FREEDOM OR GIVE IT UP?
TATIANA YELIZAROVA BALANCES FREEDOM AND PATH IN HER PAINTINGS. THE CHARACTERS OF HER WORKS ARE NAKED, FREE FROM SOCIAL REFERENCES, TÊTE-À-TÊTE WITH THE UNIVERSE AND THEIR INNER VOICES. THE ENTIRE SERIES “NEW DAWN” IS AN ACTIVE DIALOGUE ENCOURAGING SPECTATORS TO ANSWER THE QUESTIONS: “WHO AM I?”, “WHERE AM I GOING?”, AND “IS MY WAY CORRECT?”
ANNA SARMAEVA USES CARNIVOROUS PLANTS TO TALK ABOUT TRUE ACCEPTANCE OF ONESELF, BOTH POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE SIDES. AND NEGATIVE FOR WHOM? SOCIETY OR YOURSELF? THE “CARNIVORES” SERIES APPEALS TO SPECTATORS’ FREEDOM TO BE PURE THEMSELVES, BECAUSE REFUSING SELF-PERFECTION IS ALSO FREEDOM.
